A love of making that runs in the family

I’ve been sewing since I was a little girl, learning from my nan during school holidays. She taught me how to stitch, mend, and make do with whatever we had and I’ve been doing it ever since.

Those early days weren’t just about learning skills; they were about passing on stories, sharing time, and making things with love.

Everything I create now has that same spirit stitched into it, whether it’s a festive decoration, an upcycled gift, or something small just to make you smile.

The cat who started it all

Crafty Sox is named after my old cat, Socky. He was always curled up nearby while I was sewing, supervising, naturally.

He wasn’t just company, he was part of the process.

So when I needed a name for my little handmade business, it only felt right to name it after him. Crafty Sox is all about personality, warmth, and a touch of mischief, just like he was.

Making with care and using what others might waste

I’ve always believed in using what you’ve got. A lot of my materials are rescued fabrics, offcuts, or bits people would normally throw away.

But to me, they’ve still got life in them and I love giving them a second chance.

I call it sustainable crafting. It means each piece I make is not just handmade, but thoughtful something to be treasured, not tossed.

I’m not one for fancy words or flashy pitches. I just love making things that mean something.

Whether it’s a Christmas decoration stitched from a rescued scrap or a keepsake inspired by a memory, every piece has a bit of my story in it.
